I came here for the show Endgame. I thought the theater was nice and classic, the cafe at the bottom is also very cute, and the lobby area is a nice place to sit and wait for a show. The Irish pride is also very cool here. The actors and all the workers were Irish so can also find community here if you're Irish.

When I received free tickets to see "Travels," I did not know what to expect at all! But I'm so glad I took the chance. It was a great performance by all the actors involved. Although the venue wasn't the biggest, it was comfortable and it was nice the staff invited me to sit closer to the front. The two ASL interpreters worked hard throughout the show too. I love that all kinds of mediums were used to convey the different stories from singing, various instruments, subtitle projections, and probably more that I'm forgetting. Overall, great show that the audience will always remember!

Great use of the space. It may be a church basement but it felt like I was in the living room of a family in the 1930s. The acoustics were also good, but that's also because the actors did a very nice job of projecting.

Saw Breakin NYC at Theater 555, and though it's off Broadway and a bit of an avenue walk, it was worth it. Go see it while you can. You get a good history on the Break Dancing phenom and to see it in action by some pretty amazing dancers.

Bronx · 33 reviews

My experience with this community theater organization was extremely disappointing. I was invited into this production without even auditioning because of how funny the organization believed I was in a previous show. I was cast as a lead character and received positive feedback throughout rehearsals. After fully participating in rehearsals, promoting the production locally, spending hours distributing flyers, and helping secure an email blast to more than 500 people in the Pelham community, I was removed from the cast the day before opening night by Maria Provenzano, Pam Johnston, and Joe Montano. While artistic decisions are ultimately their right, the way this was handled felt unnecessarily disrespectful and emotionally damaging. I was asked to wait all day for a meeting with no explanation, then informed at the last minute that I was being removed for "not being funny enough." I was also encouraged to publicly present the departure as my own decision, which I declined to do. Community theater depends on volunteers, trust, encouragement, and professionalism. Unfortunately, I did not experience those values here. I hope the organization reflects on how performers and volunteers are treated in the future.

Just came from the July 26th show, and as always I laughed so hard! I've been to Laughing Lassi several times since its inception, and every time has been a blast. I love the comics who are showcased, especially due to the mostly South Asian bent of the lineup. You don't see enough of that representation on stage, even in NYC, and it's greatly appreciated. The hosts are always talented and professional, and the laughs from the featured comics just keep on coming. But best of all I love the super diverse crowd that makes up the audience. Perhaps a mango lassi on the menu would be the perfect touch? Something to think about. I'm definitely coming back for another show at the always exciting Broadway Comedy Club--a true New York comedy staple!

Come the theatre better than sitting home watching a movie, a play ads passion that can't be simulated on an inanimate screen. Live, decent sized seats as compared to most, with 2 sides to enter to avoid having to keep getting up, beautiful decor great acoustics, ushers are persistent turn off the phone , no unwrapping candies , actually annoying but true...i didnt like the mezzanine ceiling was low over our floor seats in back. Great night

Apollo Theater

star 4.6

Harlem, Manhattan · 8,346 reviews

As much as I would love to leave a good review due to its historical reverence, I still have to give my account on the experience I had. Currently the Apollo is under construction so they are having shows at the Victoria Stages (down the street) not too far from the Apollo Theater. The place is clean and the staff was friendly in the theater. The concession stand service was quick and pleasant even though after the contactless payment I had to rip off my own receipt from out the machine b/c the cashier walked away from the register to chat w/a friend behind the counter (RED FLAG #1). The event I went to was a comedy show that was held on a Thursday March 5th. It was a great line up with up and coming comics from the Mid-West and North East. I enjoyed myself and regardless of the 2 drink minimum which wasn't pressed upon the patrons, the drinks were served STRONG! When I got home I realized that I left my Versace eye glasses case there. I called the customer service number provided on the website and it takes you straight to an automated promoter to press 1 for administration, 2 for group sales, and ect.... I needed the lost and found which was not one of the options on the phone (RED FLAG #2) I went back to their website to see if maybe I could find a directory. Still to no avail, but I find that there is a place where you can leave an e-mail for the lost and found. I submitted an e-mail 2x and still haven't heard from them and today is the 18th of March! I called again but this time I left a message on their machine with the Administration department in the hopes they would answer my call or attempt to help direct my inquiry to the Lost & Found. Yup, you guessed it, NO ANSWER OR CALL BACK (RED FLAG #3). After doing some sleuthing, I found through several online message boards that the Apollo has a terrible reputation with answering phone calls and responding to their e-mail inbox. That is ridiculous so I guess one will always have to go in person to talk to a representative when trying to reach a particular department because no one answers the phone at the Apollo. Just do a GOOGLE SEARCH and you will find several running threads of ppl complaining about this very issue! APOLLO DO BETTER IN SERVICING THE COMMUNITY OTHER THAN SELLING TICKETS TO FILL SEATS

Located in West Village, this jazz venue offers a great range of good quality jazz live music. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the drink prices felt reasonable by Manhattan standards. That said, the experience did not fully match my expectations. The venue is quite small and located in a basement space that felt less comfortable than I had anticipated. Admission was $35 (pre-booked) per person, and guests are also required to purchase at least one drink each. The performance itself was enjoyable, but at only 1 hour in length; much shorter than expected. After the show, guests are given less than 30 minutes to finish their drinks and leave before the next audience is admitted.

Seeing Hamilton in person was one of the coolest thing my wife and I have ever done. We have watched it many times on Disney+ and became instantly hooked. We cannot physically get it out of our heads, but that's okay. Hearing a new cast with their own spin on it was absolutely phenomenal. The entrance to the theater is smaller, but decorated very well. They have some nice merch and very clean bathrooms. Ushers were not annoying like at Gatsby, they just helped us find our seats and smiled. Altogether, an amazing experience!

Had the pleasure of seeing the closing show of Dog Day Afternoon starring my favorite actor, Jon Bernthal. I got my ticket just 2 days before and totally lucked out getting a seat on the second row. This was a huge plus for me cos I've never been a fan of the first row. And my seat was in the middle which is my preference. I made sure to use the bathroom before the show because I didn't want to wait until intermission. This theater is beautiful. The seat is comfortable and is fairly spacious. The show was amazing. I was so impressed with the set direction. And the sound was bangin. There's a bit at the end where a helicopter is supposed to land and it got pretty loud in there. It was realistic enough that I really turned away cos I really thought a copter was going to land. Lol Kudos to the staff for handling business. I got to the theater about 20 minutes before the show and the line was bonkers. Legitimately took over both ends of the street. I was at the back. Some dude asked us what we were in line for. Haha The line moved so quick. There were folks reminding everyone to have their bags ready to be checked and ticket ready so that entrance could be a breeze. The usher by the bar assisted with directing folks which way to go. Everyone was super nice. Exiting was a breeze. Someone reminded people to mind their steps.

Great place to see a show. Excellent acoustics, great sight lines and a friendly staff. Saw Jheriah on June 23rd, great first act too, Lora Mauro I believe. Don't worry about the tiny staircase you go down to get in to the place once you get in you can stay near the bar in the lower level for awhile then go upstairs to the Ballroom and stage. There are plenty of exit doors on the main level. There are tables on the balcony level but seats are limited and cost more. Not a bad seat in the house either. If a band you like is performing here you should go, odds are it will sound great and you can see everything on stage from anywhere in the house.

The combination of world-class jazz and the stunning nighttime views of the Manhattan skyline made for the perfect end to a birthday celebration. The entire set was phenomenal, and every solo was a highlight. Huge compliments to Bill O'Connell (piano), Randy Brecker (trumpet), Craig Handy (tenor saxophone), Lincoln Goines (bass), and Billy Hart (drums) for such an unforgettable performance. There was a cover charge, along with a $25 per person minimum spend, which we felt was well worth it.
