Had the best time celebrating my father's birthday at BrownstoneJAZZ. The musicians weren't only extremely talented, but the most magnificent storytellers who transported us to a time that only felt accessible through cinema. The venue also curated a space that made it easy to connect with one another, a true breeding ground for community and fellowship. I highly recommend this to those looking for a unique cultural experience.

5 stars+ for Becky Hill - a great square dance caller. She was able to keep experienced dancers engaged and teach beginners at the same time. It was worth the ticket price and we will be back. The downside was the 40 min wait in the cold while the sound check was taking place.

Pretty good venue, spilloff areas make it feel very spacious although the strip of mainstage space is a bit weird and claustrophobic just because of its long/narrow shape. The best thing they could do is get rid of the weird gross astroturfing and install a rake slope so the audience can actually see over each other. And get a live screen going for the back half of the venue. Sound was good though, pleasantly surprised there!

My two daughters and I came here for the NY Giants Town Hall event. Viewing: we had seats in the mezzanine and the stage was visible although with the heads of the people sitting in front of us made it hard to see at times. Staff: we had very positive experiences with all the staff. Those who helped us w seating, staff at the bathroom, snack bar staff, etc, We had great experiences with all of them. Seats: the seating was a bit tight, I was not able to cross my legs comfortably. This was the main reason I gave this theater a 4/5 stars rather than a 5/5. Aesthetics: it is an absolute beautiful theater and one of my favorites in terms of is beauty in all of NYC!

TV Eye in Ridgewood has a really good vibe. It's the kind of place that feels laid-back but still lively, especially when there's music or a crowd. The bar is solid, with good drinks and a friendly feel. The outdoor seating is a big plus--great spot to hang out when the weather's nice, whether you're just having a drink or staying a while. It's comfortable and not too crowded. Food was surprisingly good too. Not just typical bar food--everything tasted fresh and well put together. Overall, it's a fun place to chill, grab a drink, and actually enjoy the food.

Naumburg Bandshell

star 4.7

Midtown West, Manhattan · 419 reviews

The Naumburg Bandshell is in Central Park along the Mall, and it is one of those structures in the park that rewards attention even when nothing is happening on its stage. Designed by William G. Tachau and built between 1921 and 1923, the neoclassical half-domed shell faces out onto one of the more formal stretches of the park, and the architecture has a presence that holds up on its own terms as a piece of the overall landscape. The bandshell has hosted outdoor concerts in Central Park for over a century, and the Naumburg Orchestral Concerts continue to use the space for free performances during the warmer months. The acoustics carry well in the open air setting and the natural bowl of the surrounding lawn functions as informal seating that fills up during popular performances. Catching a concert here is one of those New York experiences that feels specific to the city in a way that is difficult to replicate elsewhere, and the setting in the middle of the park on a summer evening is genuinely memorable. Beyond concerts the bandshell serves as a gathering point for walks, runs, community events, and festivals throughout the year. The Disability Unite Festival and various charity walks have used the space, and its central location within the park makes it a natural meeting point for larger organized activities. The area is busy on weekends with a mix of tourists and locals passing through along the Mall. On a quiet day when nothing is scheduled, the bandshell is still worth a look as part of a longer walk through the park. It sits close enough to other Central Park landmarks that it integrates naturally into any itinerary rather than requiring a separate detour.

5 stars all around for the Brooklyn Paramount! This was my first time going and I had an amazing experience. The theater itself is absolutely beautiful and the staff were exceptional from start to finish. In between sets, they made sure everyone stayed hydrated by passing out water until every single person who wanted one had a drink. They were also very attentive when it came to safety, which made the whole experience even better. Just an all-around great group of people and an incredible venue. I'll definitely be back!

Just a walk in event with no reservations or ticket, all free but can make donations. Musicians plays very passionate and emotional. Entertaining intermission break. Love it so much would totally come back again someday! Ps: they are not on a boat when I went there! I think they used to be but not anymore! Which is in a way, pretty nice because of steady ground

Great venue to see a show, it was my first time and initially I was concerned about parking. We found street parking a few blocks down and the walk back was on well lit streets. For music fans, loved the show I attended. The seating are regular chairs, might feel uncomfy after a while, but you have nice view of the street with wide windows and you have a sense of "Theme music" while people watching. Tickets are affordable, no drinks or food though. Cool spot to include in your night out in the neighborhood.

Great place to see a show. Excellent acoustics, great sight lines and a friendly staff. Saw Jheriah on June 23rd, great first act too, Lora Mauro I believe. Don't worry about the tiny staircase you go down to get in to the place once you get in you can stay near the bar in the lower level for awhile then go upstairs to the Ballroom and stage. There are plenty of exit doors on the main level. There are tables on the balcony level but seats are limited and cost more. Not a bad seat in the house either. If a band you like is performing here you should go, odds are it will sound great and you can see everything on stage from anywhere in the house.

I run a discussion group and had the pleasure of hosting my Sad Rich Girl Salon here. It was a spacious venue, great for a large group (up to 68 people). I met with Lan a couple months before my event and she was very communicative over Instagram DM, sharing instructions and letting me know how to coordinate with her to promote my event. She requires a flyer with a QR code (easy to make on Canva) and the invitation is hosted on Partiful (you may NOT use eventbrite). There was a 10 person minimum ($20/ticket) that I had to commit to but luckily I sold well beyond this number of tickets. If you want to earn anything from your event, you would charge that on top of the $20 fee that goes to pinkFROG. There was also a 1 item purchase (minimum) for all of my attendees so if you're hosting make sure to let your guests know beforehand. They will have to 1) show proof of purchase for ticket (on Venmo) and 2) before they are allowed to sit down, they must also purchase something from the menu. The check-in system is not super fluid so I recommend giving your start time some buffer (at least 30 min). Otherwise it's distracting when you're on stage trying to run the event and there is a check-in dialogue every time a new person arrives. Staff was very helpful with mics and lights and a great time was had by all.

Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and professional, helping the event run smoothly. The stage, lighting, and production capabilities were impressive and created a great atmosphere for an awards show. If you're attending an event here or considering it as a venue, you're in good hands. Sony Hall strikes a great balance between elegance, technology, and hospitality. Highly recommended.

Beautiful ambience. It's a gorgeous establishment and we got wonderful front row seats to the stage. The cocktails were delicious and quite strong, but the dining service is where the evening quickly went south. An hour and a half for an appetizer that never came out- a server came by twice to ask us about it, and each time I said it hadn't come out. A completely different server came a third time to ask about it, when I eventually told them to just forget about it. Tried to order something different only to be told (an hour and a half into our wait) that the kitchen had closed 30 minutes ago as food continued to be brought out to other tables. A lovely shoutout to The New Wonders, who were an incredible band tonight. The singer/trumpet & trombone player came up and complimented how the folks at my table and I were dressed. Eat at any of the other incredible restaurants in the city, then come to St. Mazie's for the jazz and the drinks and save yourself an evening of disappointing service.

Went for Praise the Disco and it was a lovely vibe. The staff from the bouncers to the bartenders to coat check were all very very lovely. I was delighted to see Presidente beer which I have yet to see in a non Dominican bar/club in nyc or Brooklyn :) The interior decor is gorgeous with such lovely visuals and lighting, whoever set it up and designed it are some very talented people!! Lovely to be surrounded images of Black music legends among others my only critiques are that the setup of the location, while I understand may be to maximize how many people can fill the space, doesn't flow well to me. This is important to me in a club I go dancing in. When u enter it is through a wide staircase, a bar is immediately to your right alongside the wall and you're already on the dance-floor. The entrance is parallel to the stage and the hallway to coat check/bathroom. Across from the side of the main bar is the dj booth, then a staircase up alongside the stage , leading to the upstairs/second bar. The dancefloor got cramped , and because of all of the adjacencies there were always people coming in and going out from every direction. If you know what I mean. I found it difficult to dance truly comfortably and completely freely with it being so hot and packed. I opted to dance on the upper bar level, which was a nice relief from the crowding but the sound system for the dj doesn't reach so well up there. Overall such a lovely space and vibe though :)

Came by for a live dating show, Love Isn't Blind hosted by my comedian friend Alli Goldberg and was impressed by the space and staff. Littlefield was packed to the brim Saturday night and I can see why, The Love Isn't Blind team have figured out something unique about dating these days. Men need to talk less and let the women take the lead (sometimes, they're smarter). But back to Littlefield - they did a great job managing the large crowd as the bar stayed busy as well. The team had a spot ready for my wheelchair thank goodness which made the experience all the better.

I've been here over a dozen times now and I can confidently say it's my favorite place in the city to see a show. Great sound systems, amazing lighting, constantly booking the best local and headlining acts, & plentiful free water stations all make for a great experience. Sometimes the main hall can get scarily overcrowded for headlining artists, but from my experiences it frees up around 2-3 when people start leaving and then it becomes much more bearable.

I've been to a lot of venues in New York City and Irving Plaza is easily one of the best. The entire venue is incredibly clean and well maintained from the floor to the bars to the bathrooms, which honestly says a lot for a busy NYC concert venue. The bathrooms were actually spotless every time I went in, which almost never happens at shows. The setup inside is awesome too. Having multiple levels and several bars makes it easy to move around, grab a drink, and still have a great view of the stage. The stage itself is surprisingly big for New York City and gives every show a much larger feel without losing that intimate concert atmosphere. The sound system was phenomenal. Everything sounded crystal clear with no distortion at all, no matter where you stood. On top of that, every staff member I interacted with was genuinely friendly and helpful. Great venue all around and definitely one I'll keep coming back to.
